Sunday afternoon at 4:30 pm Booze on First (my team) had our first game against Balls Deep. We played at Robert Downs Elementary School in PG. The weather was frightfully cold. We managed to win our first game, don't really remember the score OR any highlights. Next time I'll take better mental notes so I can give a play-by-play recap!
I did, however, attempt to bike to the field. I poorly misjudged time and distance. Ended up in Sand City with 20 minutes til the game (soooo far, 20 mins was not enough time to go the remaining distance). I called Max and he - thank god - picked me and Lukefrancis up. We attempted to find the field, but got a little lost. We made it just in time for the bottom of the 1st, our team's first turn "at bat."
After the game I curled up with some tea and watched the Oscars while facebooking. I then fell into a deep post-Vegas sleep. More details about my weekend in Vegas to come...

Monterey Bay Coastal Trail
Saturday morning I took Lukefrancis (my bicycle) on an oceanside bike ride. I had roughly an hour and a half to spare :) so I pedaled down General Jim Moore towards Hwy 1. I was a little nervous when I pedaled down a one way street, but my instinct was good and I found the Monterey Bay Coastal Bike Trail.
The trail stretches from Castroville to Pebble Beach. Most of the trail I was on was an actual bike path, but some bits were along a road or behind the stores of Sand City. The views were spectacular, it was sunny out, a cool breeze, lovely riding conditions indeed! The whole trail is about 30 miles long - I rode from Fort Ord to Robert S. Beach, and back. However, I did manage to not-so-gracefully unclip from my right pedal, accidentally lose my balance while still hooked into my left pedal, and fall like a tree to the ground. Now my left shoulder is super sore.

Nicole - bring Maple down here and let's go for a ride on this same trail... All the way to the Cottage of Sweets!

Monday - First day in Seaside
After sleeping in, I got out of bed and unpacked some more. To explore the area, I hopped on my bike (Lukefrancis). I biked down to Sand City, hoping that I could get some free wifi at Borders on my ipod. Luckily there was an OSH in the same shopping center, so I walked Lukefrancis right into OSH and got a bike lock. I rode over to Borders and locked him up and then went inside. Read the new Cosmo, had some coffee, no luck with the ipod/wifi. As I rode home on General Jim, my bike chain BROKE! :( SAD SAD SAD. So I walked the rest of the way home (coasted down hills when I could).
Bike Route (I think the directions are backwards though)
I got home, went grocery shopping (at Savemart - didn't think they had spectacular deals though), and then got ready to go with my roommates to Sarah's work bash held at El Mariachi Restaurant (711 Cannery Row, Monterey). She doesn't work there, but her work rented out the spot, had a DJ, catered Italian food, and drink specials. She works with a bunch of fun, young people. What a great way to end my first day living in Seaside! There was even a theme! I'm a sucker for theme parties.... this one was Mafia night. Loved it. Oh, and they had Widmer Hefeweizen on tap! YUMMMM
