Tacos and Rainbows

I had a great post in draft form and then my Internet cut out… pooey! Plan B: use the iPhone to create a blog post so I don't fail my personal challenge of one blog post/day.

Today I woke up as UNusual as possible, after snagging a full 8 hours of sleep! That's practically unheard of in LO-land. I went to work and watched as the skies turned from sunny and clear to slate gray and overcast. After work I went with Dave, Victor, Tyler, and Max to El Torito's Taco Tuesday. We haven't been in a while and it was nice to get out there... We grabbed a table right against the window with a prime bay view. The water below us was crashing in a miniature pool, creating the most beautiful green sea foam -> sea foam green! A rainbow popped up a couple of minutes before we left...

Easter Egg Hunt

There was an Easter Egg Hunt at work on Good Friday. The entire front lawn of our building was covered in hundreds of eggs. On the count of three everybody went running and all the eggs were snatched up in about five minutes. I love my job!

Quick thought...

Chuck Anderson Art ♥ http://www.nopattern.com/nopattern/
I love my job, the town(s) I live in (near), my coworkers, my old and new roommates, my bedroom, my closet, the neighbor's giant dog, the views from floor 7, the memories of last weekend and the thoughts for next, po5, star shapes, jan hagel and dozeroni, friends of the best kind, the coffee pot with m&m's inside, raisin bran cereal with vanilla soy milk, hot tamales, eggo waffles, March holidays, March birthdays, sunny days, overcast days, seaweed and sand around my building, seeing snakes at work, being happy, whistling (or at least trying)....

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Here comes, a visible horizon.
Right where it starts and ends.
Oh, and then we start the end.
Here comes, a visible illusion.
Oh, where it starts and ends.
You're like a sunset.

Coffee Pot and Mushroom Hunting

I woke up today before my alarm went off, which means that I can justify going online and posting a quick note. Friday's I have an earlier work schedule 6:30 - 3:30. I'm hoping that it will make it easier to get places on the weekend.

I really need a quiet coffee pot to put in my office. I don't need anything big or fancy, just something quiet! Tyler and I saw this joint coffee maker/espresso maker on craigslist that was being sold for only $20 - it was already sold though by the time she replied to me.

If you have a coffee maker to donate, or can suggest a quiet one, please give me a call :)

Looking for something to do this weekend? You can OBVIOUSLY join the Pub Crawl (see older post) tonight and/or check out Blog Monterey for this weekend's events. Really though, how FUN does this sound:

Fungophiles, rejoice! Wild mushroom expert Phil Carpenter and Marina mayor Bruce Delgado take wannabe mushroom-hunters on an expedition across the Fort Ord Public Lands, finding edible wild mushrooms wherever they lie (hopefully not beneath the tire of a mountain biker). 9am-12:30pm, free, meet at the Fort Ord Thrift Shop parking lot on Lightfighter Drive. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Miss you!

Taco Tuesday (Part I)

STORMY weather!! Yesterday I woke up and it was still raining, made some coffee, got ready for work, braved the rain, luckily found an umbrella in my trunk, and walked to work. It was my first day! Without getting into the details, I would just like to say that I really enjoyed my first day, love my office, and can't wait for tomorrow! :
After work, I met up with a few coworkers and friends at El Torito (600 Cannery Row, Monterey) for "Taco Tuesday." Each taco is $0.99. They also have other happy hour deals going on from 4 - 8 p.m. Monday thru Friday when in the cantina (bar area). You also get chips and salsa for the table. And let me just say, the cantina was absolutely packed! We had a party of about 12 people and we somehow managed to cram everyone in. Tip: Appoint somebody in your group to get there early and snag a table!
A few of the guys ordered draft beers. They came in the cool goblet (pictured above) when you ordered the grande size. I went with the house margarita (regular size) for $3.95 and I got three tacos. They brought me a receipt for 3 tacos and I went and stood in the veryyyy long line at the taco stand thingy (pictured below).
There was a choice of three meats - steak, carnitas, and chicken. I had one of each. The key to these tacos is the first salsa, the red one. OMG it was soooo good. Flavored the meat nicely. Also at the taco stand was a green salsa, shredded cheese, and a shredded lettuce mix. Some of the guys had 5 tacos each, but I was satisfied with the 3 tacos (plus chips, salsa, and a margarita:).
The night was not over though.... next most of us headed to London Bridges for a game of trivia!

Meet My Bicycle

A few months ago I decided that I wanted to get a road bike. When passing by a bicyclist, my heart skips a beat and I tear up. Okay - so maybe I'm exaggerating a liiiiittle bit. I want a bike that I can take everywhere. I want to join a bicycling club down in Monterey and ride Saturday and Sunday mornings with people who know what they are doing! I also want to give Beatrice (my car) a break, and ride a bike to work. I have heard of some people who make New Year's Resolutions to ride EVERYWHERE. I don't know if I am that ambitious. Maybe I could pull off biking 4 of 5 days a week? Or maybe have five freebies a month to drive?
Monterey, PG, & Seaside (8.4, 2.9, 8.8 square miles, respectively) are my new backyard, and there is no better way to check it all out than on bicycle. I am currently reading David Byrne's Bicycle Diaries and he points out the fact that when you limit yourself to a car, you are at the mercy of urban planners. They build major roads and highways on the edge of town, forcing drivers to stay on the fringe. With my bike I want to discover cute new places to eat (and drink)... So Green!

Names Names Names

32 Above - I had to fudge it a little bit.

But let me back up...

On December 1st I was offered a job working in Seaside, CA. I am extremely excited to move into a new place, explore the beautiful towns and beaches surrounding Monterey Bay, and begin a job doing something I am passionate about.

Seaside is 33 ft above sea level, but 33Above was already taken. Ta Da! 32Above!
